05/05/2021 (Agence Europe) – Despite the note from the Legal Service of the EU Council (see EUROPE 12675/13), several European employers’ organisations (Ceement, CoESS, EBF, ECEG, EFCI, EuroCommerce, FIEC, Geopa, Hotrec, WEC Europe) launched an appeal on Wednesday 5 May strongly criticising the legal basis of the minimum wage directive. They fear that the directive will undermine the autonomy of the social partners and social dialogue and encourage a top-down approach to wage setting. In their view, the ‘European Semester’ budgetary process remains a very suitable tool for monitoring wage developments. For more information: https://bit.ly/3vLC6eK (PH)
