16/04/2021 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission published on Tuesday 13 April two roadmaps announcing proposed EU Council recommendations in the field of education. One of these proposed recommendations concerns education for environmental sustainability. It will aim to integrate environmental issues into national education systems in order, among other things, to overcome the “lack of common understanding of education for sustainable development”. The other proposal concerns e-learning and distance learning in primary and secondary education. The Commission’s aim is to help Member States implement more effective “blended” education systems. This will be done, in particular, by drawing on the lessons learned from the Covid-19 pandemic. Both roadmaps are open for comment until 11 May.
