The European Parliament’s Transport (TRAN) and Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) committees on Thursday15 April backed the interim agreement on the regulation establishing the 2021-2027 edition of the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF), the EU’s flagship infrastructure funding programme.
This agreement, reached in early March (see EUROPE 12677/3) between negotiators from the European Parliament and the EU Council, includes the allocation of €33.71 billion (current prices) to the CEF over the next seven years.
The two parliamentary committees gave the text strong support (94 votes in favour, 21 against and 9 abstentions), which should also be approved by the Parliament as a whole. It will also be submitted shortly to the EU Council for approval.
