Brussels, 11/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – According to an EU source, theEuropean Parliament’s negotiating team and the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU have arranged to meet on 29 March to start negotiations on the ‘public country-by-country reporting’ (CBCR) proposal, which will obligate companies to make certain accounting data, such as their revenues or taxes paid, public. After a five-year deadlock, Member States approved the EU Council’s negotiating mandate on 3 March (see EUROPE 12670/11). Immediately after, the European Parliament then approved the opening of interinstitutional negotiations with the EU Council (see EUROPE 12671/35). The EU institutions are hoping to reach an agreement under the Portuguese Presidency of the Council of the EU. (MF)
