11/03/2021 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday, 11 March, the European Commission launched a public consultation on the digitalisation of visa procedures for travel within the EU. A press release explains that the envisaged changes include introducing a digital visa to replace the paper visa sticker currently used and to enable people planning to travel to the EU to submit their visa application entirely online. “A (largely) paperless and contactless visa procedure will be more cost-effective and will save time for travellers and consulates, while also ensuring the highest level of security at EU borders”. The consultation is open until 3 June in preparation for a European Commission proposal on the subject, expected by the end of 2021. Link to the consultation: http://bit.ly/3ryGzjo (SP)
