Trade unions call on European Commission to act on behalf of workers in central government administrations

13/07/2020 (Agence Europe)The European Federation of Public Service Unions (EPSU) has called on the European Commission, in a statement issued on Thursday 9 July, to implement the agreement reached over information and consultation rights for workers in central governments, particularly in relation to restructuring, through a legislative proposal to be adopted in the EU Council. The trade union organisation is referring to a declaration between EUPAE (which represents the administrative employers of 18 central governments) and the trade union TUNED, published at the end of June and relating to the importance of the public sector in managing the Covid-19 crisis. In this declaration, the social partners call on the European Commission to enshrine in European law an agreement between the social partners that was concluded in 2015 (see EUROPE 12358/18, 11977/20).
