08/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The draft regulation on the confidentiality of electronic communications (e-Privacy) will be on the agenda of the EU Council Working Party on Telecommunications on Thursday 11 June. However, this will only be a short discussion to ensure a smooth transition to the German Presidency, which is due to take over the EU Council on 1 July, according to a source from the Croatian Presidency. With regard to the draft Regulation on the Cyber Security Competence Centre, the European Parliament was informed of the renewed mandate granted by the Member States’ ambassadors to the rotating Presidency (see EUROPE 12500/9). However, no date has yet been announced for the resumption of work. It is therefore not yet clear whether this will take place under the Croatian or the German Presidency of the EU Council. (SPj)
