24/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – With the departure of the British Members of the European Parliament, new MEPs have joined the ranks of the political groups. With 43 members, the Committee on International Trade (INTA) gets two more MEPs than at the beginning of the mandate (see EUROPE 12402/7). The departure of MEPs from across the Channel will have a limited impact on the political landscape of this committee: large groups will benefit by strengthening their position (see EUROPE 12296/7). The EPP will be represented by 11 MEPs (+1), the S&D will have eight (+1) and the ECR four (+2). The other groups remain unchanged, the RE group keeps six MEPs despite the departure of the Libdem MEPs, the GUE/NGL remains at 2, the Greens at 4, ID at 5 MEPs; only NI goes from four to two MEPs.
