Numerical composition of parliamentary committees

The European Parliament will formally decide on the numerical composition of its standing parliamentary committees and subcommittees on Wednesday 15 January.

In order to meet the new priorities of the 2019-2024 institutional cycle, the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety, Chaired by Pascal Canfin (Renew Europe, France), is now the largest in terms of number of MEPs (81 members).

The breakdown is as follows: - Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET): 71 members; - Committee on Development (DEVE): 26 members; - Committee on International Trade (INTA): 43 members; - Committee on Budgets (BUDG): 41 members; - Committee on Budgetary Control (CONT): 30 members; - Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON): 60 members; - Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMPL): 55 members; - Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI): 81 members; - Committee on Industry, Research and Energy: 78 members (ITRE); - Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection (IMCO): 45 members; - Committee on Transport and Tourism (TRAN): 49 members; - Committee on Regional Development (REGI): 43 members; - Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI): 48 members; - Committee on Fisheries (PECH): 28 members; - Committee on Culture and Education (CULT): 31 members; - Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI): 25 members; - Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) : 68 members; - Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO): 28 members; - Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM): 35 members; - Committee on Petitions (PETI): 35 members; - Subcommittee on Human Rights (DROI): 30 members; - Subcommittee on Security and Defence (SEDE): 30 members.
