24/01/2020 (Agence Europe) – When asked about the importance of between 1 and 6 of the dossiers during the negotiations on the regulation on the coordination of social security systems on Wednesday 22 January in the European Parliament’s Committee on Employment and Social Affairs (EMP), Mr Josip Aladrović, Croatian Minister of Labour representing the Croatian Presidency of the EU Council, gave the highest mark to the legislative dossier. He was replying to Germany’s Gabriele Bischoff (S&D), the European Parliament rapporteur for the text. Interinstitutional negotiations on the subject have been stalled since December, as Parliament felt that the Finnish Presidency did not have enough room for manoeuvre to make progress in the talks (see EUROPE 12387/18). Since then, there has been radio silence in the EU Council, leaving doubt as to the future of the text. One thing is certain: we are told that Germany does not want to inherit this dossier during its presidency. (PH)
