Monday 14 October

  • Luxembourg. Council of the EU. Agriculture and Fisheries Council (and 15/10). *Fisheries : - Baltic: debate on fishing opportunities in 2020. *Agriculture : - Forests: discussion on a strategy for forests after 2020 and exchange of views on the Commission's communication on strengthening action to protect and restore the world's forests. - Future of the CAP: status of the negotiations on the reform of the post-2020 common agricultural policy. - Agricultural markets: the Commission will inform Ministers on the state and recent developments of the situation in the main agricultural markets. - Miscellaneous: information on the bio-economy, food security, African swine fever, customs duties recently announced by the Trump administration on certain EU agricultural products.
  • Luxembourg. Council of the EU. Foreign Affairs Council. - Turkey: reactions to be considered in the face of the Turkish offensive in Syria; Turkish drilling activities in the eastern Mediterranean off Cyprus. - Afghanistan: situation on the ground after the presidential election of 28/09. - Ukraine: update on EU support, local reforms and the situation in the East of the country with the new Ukrainian Foreign Minister. - Middle East: state of implementation of the Iranian nuclear agreement after Iranian threats of further measures; situation in Iraq after the latest demonstrations in the country; situation in Libya. - Latin America: conclusions and possible sanctions against the Government of Nicaragua. - Venezuela: update on international meetings held in the margins of the UN General Assembly. - Cameroon: adoption of conclusions on the internal political situation. - Thailand: adoption of conclusions with a view to broadening bilateral relations. - Bosnia and Herzegovina: statement on the occasion of the renewal of the mandate of Operation EUFOR Althea.

Committee activities (as at 26/09). - BUDG: vote on the resolution on the EU 2020 budget; Belgium's request for assistance from the European Globalisation Adjustment Fund. - SEDE: participation of a delegation of the committee in the 65th NATO Parliamentary Assembly (11-14/10).

Tuesday 15 October

Agriculture and Fisheries Council. *Fisheries: - EMFF: Ministers should decide to complete the partial general approach on the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund for the post-2020 period. - EU/Norway Fisheries Agreement: discussions on the EU position for the annual consultation. - ICCAT: exchange of views on the EU position at the annual meeting of the International Commission for the Conservation of Atlantic Tunas (18-25/11)
  • Luxembourg. Council of the EU. General Affairs Council. - MFF 2021-2027: Debates on the Finnish Presidency's working document on the total amount of the next Multiannual Financial Framework (2021-2027) and on the possible creation of new own resources in preparation for the European Council (preparation of draft conclusions). - Balkans: discussions on enlargement and the Stabilisation and Association Process for Albania and the Republic of North Macedonia. - Other: report of the Finnish Presidency on the seminar on transparency held in Brussels on 24/09.
  • Brussels. Council of the EU. General Affairs Council (Article 50). - Discussion on further progress towards an agreement with the United Kingdom on Brexit with EU negotiator Michel Barnier and preparation of the European Council meeting (Article 50).
  • Luxembourg. * Court of Justice of the EU. #Rulings: C-128/18 (Dorobantu - scope of the examination on the part of the executing judicial authorities of a European arrest warrant to assess the conditions of detention in the issuing Member State).

Wednesday 16 October

  • Brussels. European Council, Council of the EU and European Commission. Tripartite Social Summit. Dialogue between the institutions and the social partners on the subject under discussion: "Advancing the social and economic dimensions for a competitive, equitable and sustainable Europe" (fair transition to a carbon neutral economy, investment in skills and training, a new industrial policy).
  • Brussels. European Commission. Weekly meeting of the College of Commissioners. - Annual report on the implementation of free trade agreements (Katainen). - Progress report on the implementation of the European Agenda on Migration (Timmermans-Mogherini).
  • Brussels. Council of the EU. Coreper I.

Thursday 17 October

  • Brussels. European Council. Summit of Heads of State or Government (and 18/10): *'Article 50' formation: Progress of work towards an agreement with the United Kingdom on Brexit. *Twenty-Eight formation: - MFF 2021-2027: debate on the future long-term budget of the EU. - Strategic programme and next institutional cycle: EU strategic programme and priorities for the period 2019-2024. - Climate: international aspects of climate change following the UN Climate Action Summit and in preparation for the climate conference to be held in Santiago de Chile.
  • Luxembourg. * Court of Justice of the EU. #Rulings: C-569/18 (Caseificio Cirigliana and Others - are the new rules on the PDO 'Mozzarella di bufala campana' valid?).
