11/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission sent a reasoned opinion on Thursday 10 October to eight Member States (Spain, Greece, Luxembourg, Portugal, Romania, Slovenia, Sweden and Cyprus) asking them to transpose into national law the IORP II Directive, which lays down rules on institutional occupational retirement provision (IORP) in the EU. Member States had until 13 January 2019 to do so, but these eight countries have still not notified the Commission of the required national measures. The Member States concerned now have 2 months to notify the Commission of their measures transposing the Directive, failing which they may be brought before the EU Court of Justice. (MF)
