11/10/2019 (Agence Europe) – On 10 October, the foreign ministers of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) decided to prioritise the organisation's actions, with a focus on the environment and climate change. “No country or community in our region has enough resources to cope with the pace of climate change on its own. Undoubtedly, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, our joint efforts for the next decade will have to focus on this urgent issue, which goes well beyond climate change and involves reconsidering our approach to the region's limited resources”, explained UfM Secretary General Nasser Kamel in a statement. Trade, investment promotion, job creation and economic cooperation, including the digital economy and infrastructure connectivity, are other priority topics highlighted by ministers. (CG)
