North Atlantic Fisheries Organisation reopens shrimp fishery

At its annual meeting, held in Bordeaux, France, from 23-27 September, the Northwest Atlantic Fisheries Organisation (NAFO) decided to reduce cod quotas in 2020 and to reopen the northern shrimp fishery in area 3M (South Greenland).

As cod stocks are in poor shape, NAFO members have decided to halve the total allowable catch (TAC) for the species to 8531 tonnes for next year. Northern shrimp fishing will resume next year in area 3M. It has been banned since 2011, due to low stocks. NAFO has...
