19/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – According to a study published by Transport & Environment on Thursday 19 September, trucks running on liquefied natural gas (LNG) pollute 2 to 5 times more nitrogen oxide (Nox) than the most efficient diesel trucks. These results are based on real-world driving tests in urban, rural and highway areas. "Gasoline trucks are not clean and can even be worse than diesel. It is time for policy makers to take a fresh look at the facts and put an end to subsidies for gas trucks", says Stef Cornelis, head of the Clean Trucks Unit at T&E. The organisation reiterates that gas is a fossil fuel in the same way as oil or coal and cannot be a real alternative. To consult the study (in English): http://bit.ly/2moHXbM (PH)
