16/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – Social Democrat Irene Tinagli was officially elected – by acclamation – chairwoman of the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs on Monday 16 September (see EUROPE 12326/30). Thanking the MEPs, she said she looked forward to facing the next “interesting challenges” facing the parliamentary committee in the interest of the European Union. Ms Tinagli replaces her compatriot Roberto Gualtieri, who has been appointed Minister of Economy in Italy’s second Conte administration. The next meeting of the parliamentary committee is scheduled for Monday 23 and Tuesday 24 September. (MB)
