12/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The Italian Socialist delegation proposes that Irene Tinagli take over the chairmanship of the European Parliament's Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON), which was left vacant after Roberto Gualtieri's appointment as Italian Minister of Economy in the second Conte government (see EUROPE 12325/1). The election to the parliamentary committee will take place on Monday 16 September in Strasbourg, in the margins of the plenary session. Currently an alternate member of the ECON Committee, Ms Tinagli is also a full member of the Committee on International Trade and the European Parliament Delegation for relations with the United States. The departure of Mr Gualtieri allows Nicola Danti to return to the European Parliament and Simona Bonafè to be elected Vice-President of the S&D Group (see EUROPE 12325/26). (MB)
