12/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The coordinators of the political groups for the Committee on Economic and Monetary Affairs (ECON) will discuss, on Monday evening, 16 September, in Strasbourg, the creation of working groups within the committee, including one on taxation, according to several sources. But the idea of a standing sub-committee on taxation, supported in particular by the Greens/EFA and the S&D and included in the report adopted by the special committee ‘TAX3' last March (see EUROPE 12222/12), could be raised. The EPP is said to now be more open to discussion, while uncertainty persists around the RE group, which is very divided on the issue in the ECON Committee. According to a parliamentary source, all options remain on the table, namely a standing committee, a sub-committee or a working group. However, this source considered it unlikely that a firm decision will be taken on this issue on Monday evening. (MF)
