Member States agree on a six-month extension of EUNAVFOR Med Sophia operation

After an initial discussion on 5 September, the ambassadors of the Member States meeting in the Political and Security Committee agreed on Thursday 12 September to extend the EUNAVFOR Med Sophia maritime operation in the Mediterranean for a further 6 months.

The operation will continue under current conditions, which means that naval assets will remain suspended until a solution is found to the disembarkation of migrants collected by the operation's ships (see EUROPE B12223A19).
