Antoine Kasel appointed Head of Cabinet for Commissioner-designate for Jobs, Nicolas Schmit

Luxembourg's Antoine Kasel has been officially appointed Head of Cabinet of the new Commissioner for Jobs, Nicolas Schmit, who is set to take up his duties on 1 November.

A seasoned Luxembourg diplomat, Mr Kasel had joined the cabinet of the President of the European Commission, Jean-Claude Juncker. He deals in particular with customs, tax, budgetary, economic, financial, research, science, innovation and regional policy issues. He is also in charge of the G20 follow-up.

The appointment of the Heads of Cabinet of the next European Commission continues and names are beginning to emerge. The current Danish Ambassador to the European Union, Kim Jørgensen, will head the cabinet of the future Executive Vice-President designate for the Digital Age, Margrethe Vestager. Stéphanie Riso, a member of the working group on negotiations with the United Kingdom under Article 50, will take over the reins of the cabinet of the Commissioner-designate for the Internal Market, Sylvie Goulard, according to Context.
