08/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 8 July, the European Commission announced that it had selected 24 finalists from 199 candidates for the 2019 RegioStars Awards, which recognise the most original and innovative Cohesion Policy projects funded by the EU in five categories: - promoting digital transformation; - green spaces and rivers within cities; - combatting inequalities and poverty; - building climate-resilient cities; - modernising health services. On Tuesday 9 July, the date on which the votes will be opened to the public for the 2019 RegioStars Public Prize, the finalists will be announced at a reception at the Commission in the presence of Marianne Thyssen, Commissioner for Employment and Social Affairs.
