08/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, and the Kyrgyz Republic's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chingiz Aidarbekov, initialled the Cooperation and Enhanced Partnership Agreement between the EU and Kyrgyzstan on 6 July in Bishkek. The negotiations were launched in December 2017 (see EUROPE 11929/22). According to Ms Mogherini, the agreement will contribute to the implementation of political, economic and rule of law reforms, the modernisation of the country and the prosperity of the population. It will also strengthen cooperation on foreign and security policy, in the field of justice, freedom and security and in 24 sectors such as economy and finance, energy, transport, environment and climate change, digital economy, agriculture, social affairs and research.
