08/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – At the Employment and Social Policy Council on Monday 8 July, Ministers endorsed the rejection of the European Commission's proposal not to replace the Regional Policy Commissioners, Corina Creţu, and the Digital Single Market Commissioner, Andrus Ansip, both of whom sit in the new European Parliament (see EUROPE 12277/15). They are to be dismissed and replaced by Ioan Mircea Pașcu, on behalf of Romania, and Kadri Simson, on behalf of Estonia. For the time being, Mr Ansip's portfolio has been temporarily handed over to the Commissioner for Energy Union, Maroš Šefčovič, and Ms Creţu's to the Commissioner for Enlargement Negotiations, Johannes Hahn (see EUROPE 12288/6).
