29/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – Chinese telecommunications equipment manufacturer Huawei made a new request to the US courts on Wednesday 29 May, to have its March complaint against the US's National Defence Authorization Act analysed more quickly. This 'request for summary judgment' from a court in Texas concerns the prohibition on government agencies to obtain telecommunications equipment from Huawei and ZTE (National Defence Authorization Act - NDAA) and not the blacklist published on 15 May (see EUROPE 12256A22). The exclusion of Huawei was raised by China on 28 May at a meeting of the WTO Market Access Committee. The United States is abusing the national security exception clause under GATT Article XXI, the Chinese ambassador said. (SPj and HD)
