03/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – According to a flash estimate by the Statistical Office of the European Union (Eurostat) on Friday 3 May, the Euro area annual inflation rate reached 1.7% in April. This is an increase of 0.3 percentage points compared to the rate seen in March (see EUROPE 12238/31). In terms of inflation components, energy prices increased the most between April 2018 and 2019 (+5.4%), followed by services (+1.9%), food, alcohol & tobacco (+1.5%) and non-energy industrial goods (+0.2%).
