03/05/2019 (Agence Europe) – On 2 May, the European Defence Agency (EDA) announced the arrival, the day before, of Frenchman Jean-François Ripoche in its midst as Director for Research, Technology and Innovation (RTI). According to the Agency, on the basis of the Overarching Strategic Research Agenda (OSRA), the Directorate coordinates and plans joint research activities and the study of technical solutions to meet future operational needs. It provides support to Member States and to the European Commission for the Preparatory Action on defence research and for the research dimension of the European Defence Fund. It also ensures the promotion of innovation in the field of defence and the exploitation of synergies at EU level with civil research in the field of dual-use technology. (CG)
