26/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The spokesperson of the European External Action Service called on Monday, 25 March for “any reported irregularities” in the previous day's parliamentary elections in Thailand to “be resolved swiftly and transparently”. The opposition denounces many election frauds. The “peaceful” holding of these parliamentary elections, the first fully-contested since 2011, and the first since the 2014 Coup d’État, “constitutes an important step towards restoring a democratic form of governance”, she added, welcoming the high turnout. “We look forward to the announcement of the election results as soon as possible” and the formation of a new government "that reflects the will of the electorate”, the spokesperson said. The party of the military junta in government and the opposition each claim victory. (CG)
