26/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European External Action Service spokeswoman called for a reduction in tensions on Monday evening, 25 March, after Israeli army strikes on Gaza, in retaliation for a rocket attack on a house in Mishmeret, north-east of Tel Aviv, which injured seven Israelis earlier today. “The first priority for all must (...) be de-escalation and maximum restraint, in order to re-establish calm and protect the lives of Israeli and Palestinian civilians”, she warned. Hamas has since announced a ceasefire. The EEAS spokesperson called for an immediate end to rocket attacks and any other violent action or provocation by Palestinian militants in Gaza, reaffirming the EU’s “fundamental” commitment to the security of Israel.
