26/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The five EU Member States of the United Nations Security Council (Belgium, France, Germany, Poland, United Kingdom) warned on Tuesday, 26 March that their position had not changed on the Golan Heights following the American recognition of the Heights as Israeli territory. “In accordance with international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, we do not recognise Israel's sovereignty over the territories occupied by Israel since June 1967, including the Golan Heights, and we do not consider them part of the territory of the State of Israel”, they stressed in a statement. They recalled that the annexation of territory by force was prohibited by international law and that any unilateral declaration of border changes was contrary to the international order based on rules and the Charter of the United Nations.
