European leaders expected to discuss only timeline for approval of 2021-2027 MFF

The European Council of 28 and 29 June is not expected to discuss the substance of the proposals on the multiannual financial framework (MFF) of the EU for 2021-2027, just the negotiation agenda.

“The meeting is not expected to focus on the substance, but on the timing”, a European source said on Wednesday 27 June.

Certain EU leaders may, however, reiterate their red lines, on the sidelines of the European Council. The so-called 'net contributors' to the EU budget may oppose the increase...
