27/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – The Dailymotion video sharing platform has become the eighth signatory to the EU's code of conduct on tackling online hate speech. The announcement was made on Wednesday 27 June in Dublin, during a seminar organised by business signatories in an effort to step up the fight against a proliferation in online racist, xenophobic and hate speech. This company therefore joins Facebook, Microsoft, Twitter, YouTube, as well as Snapchat, Instagram et Google+, which this year all announced that they were taking part (see EUROPE 12016, 11943). It should be recalled that the code was introduced in 2016 and commits the digital giants to tackle any alerts deemed valid in less than 24 hours. (MF)
