27/06/2018 (Agence Europe) – In a brief press release dated Tuesday 26 June, the European Shippers’ Council (ESC) called on the MEPs meeting for their plenary session at the European Parliament on Wednesday 4 July, to vote for the compromise adopted by Parliament's transport committee on 4 June last on three sensitive texts in the first “mobility” package: posted workers (drivers), driving and rest time and cabotage (see EUROPE 12034). This position was to be expected given that it the one defended by the organisation during the most recent plenary session, which effectively called for MEPs to vote in favour of the negotiating mandate on these three texts, which were ultimately rejected (see EUROPE 12041). The result from these votes is still proving uncertain, given that the texts are subject to significant differences of interpretation. (LT)
