Having one’s freedom withdrawn should not mean having one’s dignity denied. This is the general thrust of the draft own-initiative report on penitential systems and conditions in European prisons by Joëlle Bergeron (EFDD, France). It will be debated and then voted on on Thursday 5 October during the European Parliament plenary session in Strasbourg.
