04/10/2017 (Agence Europe) – The Energy Community Secretariat has approved the internal reorganisation plan of gas transport system operator Ukrtransgaz, a subsidiary of the Ukrainian publicly-owned gas group Naftogaz, through the creation of a new body, UGTSO (Ukraine’s gas transmission system operator), the press service of Naftogaz reported on Tuesday 3 October. Following full legal separation from Naftogaz, the new division will be able to pass the certification of the GTS operator suiting EU requirements, it said. Director of the Energy Community Secretariat Janez Kopac said that the restructuring is a “first realistic step” towards the unbundling of Naftogaz whose chief executive, Andriy Kobolev, highlighted the responsibility of all participants in the process to ensure uninterrupted gas transport for the people of Ukraine and transit of gas to the EU.
