The 22 member states subscribing to the fiscal compact - the part of the TSCG Treaty requiring a budget balance rule to be introduced into national law - have all included binding and permanent rules in their internal legal order, according to a report adopted by the European Commission on Wednesday 22 February.
However, the European institution notes a high degree of disparity in the national provisions adopted, in view of the broad range of national budgetary arrangements.
