Brussels, 25/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - An operation supported by Europol and Eurojust and involving up to 400 police officers has led to the arrests of 77 individuals suspected of trafficking in migrants coming mainly from Kosovo, Europol announced on 25 March in a press release.
The criminal network dismantled over a number of countries (Austria, France, Slovakia and Kosovo) was headed up by citizens of Kosovo, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Serbia and Bosnia & Herzegovina and recruited migrants in Kosovo. These migrants then travelled to Hungary via Serbia. Once they reached Hungary, another cell of the same network took over and brought them to Switzerland, Italy, Germany or France, which would be their final destination. The traffickers charged at least €2,800 per person for the journey and around €7,000 per family, Europol adds. (Solenn Paulic)
