25/03/2015 (Agence Europe) - More child trampoline safety in the EU. ANEC, the European consumer voice in standardisation, has welcomed publication of the European safety standard EN 71-141 for trampolines used in private gardens and urges parents and other family members to buy only trampolines that comply with this standard. ANEC Secretary-General, Stephen Russell, commented, “Considering the number of accidents involving domestic trampolines - 7,000 children were injured in Sweden alone in 2008 - there was urgent need to develop a standard for trampolines used in private gardens”. Compliance with the standard assumes compliance with the main demands in the European directive on toy safety (2009/48/EC). (AN)
