Prospect of European safety standards being adopted for sleeping products for newborn babies and young children

Brussels, 22/10/2009 (Agence Europe) - On 21 October, the EU General Product Safety Committee adopted recommendations with a view to establishing new safety standards for sleeping products for newborn babies and small children. Products concerned are, for example, duvets, baby sleeping bags and cot mattresses. The aim of the recommendations is to reduce the number of cot-related accidents.
