19/06/2006 (Agence Europe) - On the eve of the EU/US summit on 21 June in Vienna (see pp 5 and 11), the European Employers Federation (UNICE) and the American Business Coalition for Doha and the National Association of Manufacturers made a joint appeal for the leaders of the two sides to provide a political boost to the Doha negotiations. A joint ABCD/UNICE press release urged “leaders in Vienna …to take the necessary steps to put Doha back on a productive track. The EU and the US must work together if a meaningful result is to be achieved”. UNICE president, Ernest-Antoine Seillière declared, “The time for a decisive move is now, and only if the United States and the European Union, working together, can induce others to put their cards on the table in the short time left”.
