THE DAY IN POLITICS / (eu) eu/nepal

09/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - The EU is sending a Troika on 13-15 December to Kathmandu with a message voicing concern about the violence reigning in Nepal and the breaches of human rights. The EU is seeking to support efforts to put a stop to the violence and restart the dialogue between the government and Maoist rebels of the Communist Party of Nepal. The Troika (the first the EU has sent to the country) will consist of Regional Directors, who will meet the Nepalese prime minister, the minister for foreign affairs and army chiefs, as well as representatives of civil society and the international community.
