09/12/2004 (Agence Europe) - An ad hoc delegation of the European Parliament, led by British Conservative member Edward McMillan-Scott and by Pasqualina Napoletano (Uniti nell'Ulivo) will follow the election of the new President of the Palestinian Authority, planned for 9 January 2005. The MEPs will be on the ground from 6 to 10 January, and will observe the ballot in Gaza, East Jerusalem, Ramallah, Hebron and Naplouse/Jenin. They will work with the EU's official observation mission led by Michel Rocard (French member of the Socialist Group of the EP), which will be made up of around 150 observers, some of whom are already on the ground.
