The European Commission has reached “the best deal we could get under very difficult circumstances” with the United States, summed up the European Commissioner for trade, Maroš Šefčovič, on Monday 28 July. The agreement significantly increases US tariffs for Europeans - now set at 15% for most products - compared with the tariffs applied before Donald Trump’s return to the presidency.
