Brussels, 30/09/2009 (Agence Europe) - Central Africa could benefit to the tune of some €165 million for the period from 2008 to 2013 through development cooperation with the EU, funded by the 10th European Development Fund (EDF). The regional strategy paper and the regional indicative programme setting the framework and the priorities of this cooperation were signed on Wednesday 30 September by European Development Commissioner Karel De Gucht, Antoine Ntsimi, President of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central Africa (CEMAC) and Louis Sylvain-Goma, Secretary General of the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS). €97 million of the total amount will go to economic and trade integration, and economic partnership agreement (EPA) related matters, €30 million will go to management of renewable natural resources, €15 million to political integration, peace and security, and €15 million will be for the Economic Community of the African Great Lakes Countries.
