Commission says countries must publish names of farmers receiving EU farm subsidies by 30 April

Luxembourg, 24/04/2009 (Agence Europe) - The European Commission talked tough on Thursday 23 April after Germany suggested it would be refusing to publish the names of beneficiaries of EU farm subsidies. Under EU legislation, EU member states have to publish the names by 30 April and EU Agriculture Commissioner Mariann Fischer-Boel said that Germany had to apply the transparency legislation on Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) subsidies and if it failed to do so, the Commission would act...
