Brussels, 20/10/2008 (Agence Europe) - The EU and Canada agreed at the summit meeting in Quebec on Friday 17 October to enhance their relations and develop a “strategic partnership”. The leaders (Nicolas Sarkozy and José Manuel Barroso for the EU, and Prime Minister Stephen Harper for Canada) identified three key areas in which to take their cooperation forward: the economy, energy and the environment, and international security.
