Brussels, 19/09/2008 (Agence Europe) - Physics professor and former Executive Vice-President of Philips Research Dutchman Martin Schuurmans was unanimously elected to head the Governing Board of the European Institute of Technology (EIT) at the Board's constituent meeting in Budapest on Monday 15 September (see EUROPE 9740). The Board is made up of professionals from the worlds of business, research and higher education across EU member states. “I think I have never seen a group of people which has such a collective wisdom in so many fields of innovation. Let's make sure that in the next two to three years we have at least two successful KICs (Knowledge and Innovation Communities), successful in innovation and successful in education,” Schuurmans said.
