Italian administrator for tobacco monopoly liable for offences committed by body from which it took OVER

Luxembourg, 13/12/2007 (Agence Europe) - The European Court of Justice has found in favour of the Italian Competition Authority, which transferred liability for taking part in a tobacco market cartel to the organisation that took over after the said cartel participation had occurred (C-280/06, decision made on 11 December).

The organisation in question participated, together with Philip Morris, in the Italian tobacco market from 1993 to 2001. The Italian authorities subsequently imposed...
