21/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - In addition to the European People's Party (EPP) (see EUROPE 9390), the Party of European Socialists (PES) will also hold a “pre-summit” meeting in Berlin on Saturday 24 March under the chairmanship of Kurt Beck (leader of the German SPD) and Poul Nyrup Rasmussen, the PES president. In the meantime, on Thursday 22 March, in Rome, the president of the ALDE Group at the European Parliament, Graham Watson, and the president of the European Liberal, Democrat and Reform Party (ELDR), Annemie Neyts, will present a proposal for a Mission Statement for the EU, which, in a single page, will explain the aim and the meaning of the European Union in the 21st century.
