21/03/2007 (Agence Europe) - Italy's High Council for the Judiciary will be hosting the Council of Europe's 3rd European Conference of Judges in Rome on 26-27 March 2007 on “Which Council for Justice?”. The conference will focus on the structure and role of “high councils for the judiciary” and equivalent bodies, and ensuring public access to a high-quality justice system that is independent, efficient and fair. The Consultative Council of European Judges, an advisory body of the Council of Europe on issues related to the independence, impartiality and competence of judges, is organising the conference with the European Network of Councils for the Judiciary and will issue an opinion on the subject in November 2007.
