Luxembourg, 18/10/2006 (Agence Europe) - According to the data published by Eurostat on 17 October, seasonally adjusted industrial production increased by 1.8% in the eurozone in August 2006 compared to July 2006. Production had fallen by 0.4% in July after having remained stable in June. In the EU25, output gained 1.3% in August 2006 after a decrease of 0.2% in July the same year.
The Statistical Office of the European Communities notes that production of durable consumer goods, intermediate goods, non-durable consumer goods and capital goods gained both in the eurozone and in the EU25. Industrial production increased in thirteen Member States, fell in seven and remained stable in the United Kingdom. Major increases were notched up in Portugal (+5.0%), Luxembourg (+3.7%), Belgium (+2.6%) and Latvia (+2.4%), whereas the largest decreases were noted in Denmark (-2.5%), Hungary and Finland (-2.2% each) and Ireland (-1.7%).
